Ronchamp par FormIt

Posted in images, Uncategorized

We had a little "bug bash" today in the office as we prepare to launch the next version of FormIt. Its always fun to see what our users and colleagues come up with. This one comes from Trey Klein in the Revit QA group: Which of the images below is a photo of Le Corbusier’s Ronchamp, and which is actually a FormIt model of the masterpiece?  Hmmm? ...

Even MORE fun and useful stuff you can do with FormIt

Posted in images

Here in the U.S. it is Memorial Day. So many of us are enjoying some time off with our families (and our grills, weather permitting.) Keeping with our recent theme of cool stuff you can do with FormIt - this one comes from the inside. Markus Bonn is a Principal Software Engineer on the FormIt team. He is also the rare breed of software developer with a background in architecture and a great sense of design. From Markus:

Another great customer video

Posted in Uncategorized

[YouTube Video]

I wanted to share another great video of FormIt being used by one of our customers. This one by José Maria Coelho Bassalo (who has a few other FormIt videos worth watching.) He demonstrates how to sketch on the iPad using Noteshelf, import the sketch into FormIt for modeling, and then round trip a screenshot back into Noteshelf for further sketching. Great work José! This is exactly how we envisioned FormIt being used! BTW, we have some new features coming soon that will help you in this workflow. How about everyone else? Do you have great videos and/or screenshots of work you have done with FormIt? What about bringing FormIt models into Revit or Vasari using Autodesk 360? Post examples in the comments or tweet us at @AutodeskVasari and we may profile them here!

Villa Rotunda Model Shared on A360

Posted in a360, images

Following David Light's lead, I have shared the Villa (Carpa) Rotunda model that has been profiled on this blog and in our videos. To access the shared model in FormIt:

  1. first download the newest version from the App Store
  2. Log in to, or create, a free Autodesk 360 account
  3. Then click on this link:  http://a360.co/11hBk5a
  4. From here click on "Copy to My Cloud Documents." A copy will be placed in your FormIt folder (assuming you have logged into your account at least once from FormIt on the iPad.)
  5. Open FormIt, log in to A360 in the Gallery, and "pull down" to refresh the gallery.
  6. Have fun modding the model!

Posted in 3dprinting, images, vasari

A brand new MakerBot Replicator2 showed up at our office recently. Of course we started thinking about what we could print from FormIt. I started printing out pieces of the Villa Rotunda model that I posted back in March. But I wanted to print something useful - ...

Things are getting sketchy

FormIt is under constant development here at the factory. As product owner, a lot of really cool screentshots and videos are crossing my desk. I could not resist sharing this one. Caveats, of course. This is still under development and not in the released app.
