Introducing FormIt 2024

by Heather Smilkstein, 4 April 2023

Hello FormIt fans!

It's spring, and FormIt 2024 has sprung!

We'll cover the main highlights of this release below, but feel free to take a look at the complete list of changes and improvements for each FormIt platform: WindowsWeb, and iPadOS.

You can also skip right to downloading the update now for Windows (also available via the Autodesk Desktop App), Web, and iPadOS.

Let's go!

Camera Improvements

You might have noticed these gems hidden in our Tech Preview menu, but now they're ready for prime time and they work even better than before! (FormIt for Windows only)

Axonometric and Oblique Cameras

We've added two new camera types: axonometric and oblique. Create design diagrams and view your models in new ways!

Create Panoramas

We've also added the ability to create panoramic views of your model.

New FormIt Panorama Creation

The output of this can be used in free utilities such as RenderStuff.com's panorama viewer to create an interactive view of your model for clients to interact with, no FormIt required.

Model Statistics

If you're into data, we've got a new panel for you!

FormIt 2024 offers the ability to view model statistics. View triangle counts, texture memory, and more!

FormIt + Dynamo for 2024

We're integrated with the latest and greatest Dynamo version: 2.17.

Check out all the new features here.

Performance Improvements

As always, we continue to improve performance of various parts of the app.

In this release, you can expect to see improved performance when converting from a mesh to an object.

Bug Fixes

In addition to everything above, we've been fixing customer-reported issues and other undesirable behaviors.

We've highlighted just a few below, but you can read the full list of fixes in the release notes for WindowsWeb, and iPadOS.

  • General Usability:

    • Logging into FormIt will no longer log the user out of other Autodesk products. This was seen most often by customers with Revit.
  • Modeling:

    • We fixed bad results seen when editing curves (circle, arc, spline).
  • Camera:

    • We improved the speed of zoom when approaching terrain.

Up Next

We can't tell you much, but we have big news just around the corner...

More updates on the way! Until then, be well.
